Piet van Stuivenberg was born in Schiedam in 1901 where he died in 1988.
At the age of 14 he was already working for a firm of stone masons. Later he attended Rotterdamse Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten.
Van Stuivenberg also always drew, in addition to sculpture. He was a member of the Vrij Beelden and Creatie group.
Despite museum purchases, by Sandberg amongst others, Van Stuivenberg enjoyed only moderate appreciation during his working life. His work is principally abstract sculpture in stone or wood.
