Born in Amsterdam in 1929, Herman Dirk van Dodeweerd currently lives in Berlin and had his former pseudonym officially registered as his name.
Besides being an influential painter in several movements such as the Nulgroep, the Nieuwe Stijl and Gard Sivik he is also a poet, writer, sculptor, actor and violist.
Exhibited in the Elleboogkerk in Amersfoort, which is the Armando-museum, the Kupferstichkabinett in Berlin, the Neues Museum Nürnberg and many others, Armando is truly one of the most influential Dutch artists of the 20th century.
